The Ultimate Chardham Yatra Itinerary from Delhi
The Ultimate Chardham Yatra Itinerary from Delhi
The Chardham Yatra is a revered pilgrimage circuit in the Indian Himalayas, encompassing four holy sites: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Undertaking this journey from Delhi is popular, as it provides a convenient starting point for pilgrims coming from across the country or abroad.
Why the Chardham Yatra?
According to Hindu mythology, completing the Chardham Yatra washes away sins and opens the doors to Moksha (salvation). Beyond its spiritual significance, the journey takes you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Uttarakhand, offering a deep connection with nature.
The Complete 11-Day Itinerary
Our comprehensive 11-day package from Delhi covers all four dhams with comfortable stays and expert guidance.
1. Delhi to Haridwar
The journey begins with a drive from Delhi to Haridwar. Here, you can witness the mesmerizing evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, setting the spiritual tone for the days ahead.
2. Yamunotri: The Source of the Yamuna
From Haridwar, we travel to Barkot and then to Jankichatti, the base for the Yamunotri trek. The 6 km trek leads to the Yamunotri temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Devotees take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund (hot springs) before darshan.
3. Gangotri: The Descent of the Ganges
The next leg takes us to Uttarkashi and then to Gangotri. Situated on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, the Gangotri temple marks the origin of the holy Ganges. The serene environment here is perfect for meditation and performing rituals.
4. Kedarnath: The Realm of Shiva
We then journey to Guptkashi and Sonprayag, the gateway to Kedarnath. The 16-18 km trek from Gaurikund to the Kedarnath temple is challenging but profoundly rewarding. The temple, standing against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
5. Badrinath: The Abode of Vishnu
The final dham is Badrinath. We travel through the scenic routes of Chopta or Joshimath to reach the Badrinath temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. A dip in the Tapt Kund here is considered essential before entering the temple.
